It’s All About Me Exhibit Hits Phantom

Gallery Phantom Gallery hosted an exhibition of works by Hussian faculty, alumni and students entitled It’s All About Me, at the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts in Millville, NJ. As co-curator of the show, Dr. Debra Miller, our Art History instructor, invited students and colleagues to submit self-portraits, their own favorite works, or compositions they felt were most indicative of their unique artistic styles. Art on display included a variety of media, styles and subjects: a naturalistic pastel nude of Selene, Goddess of the Moon, by Instructor Louise Clement-Hoff; pop-inspired silkscreen closeups of girl’s faces by alumnus Brendan Ford; highly detailed Adobe Illustrator digital prints of New York and Tokyo, in addition to a self-portrait Saint Richard by Junior student Richard Marr; acrylic self portraits Tim Who? and Victim of Paranoia by Junior Tim McKenna and Senior Brian O’Toole; acrylic illustrations by Seniors Kerri Costello (Letting Go of the Butterflies), Matt Moys (The 11th Part and Pumpkid) and Eryn Diskin (Seascape); an original digital photograph reworked in Photoshop entitled Lamp Post by Junior Siobhan Cusumano; and a figure study inspired by the Crucifixion of Christ entitled Thirst by Senior Tracy Soto.

RRCA Board President Marie Hahn was so impressed with the maturity and mastery of our artists that she invited them to extend the show for an entire month, well beyond the usual one-night third Friday shows for which the Gallery is known. And more good news: this outstanding show will travel to the International House Art Gallery in West Philadelphia in January 2009. Millville’s Glasstown Arts District is a growing arts area providing exciting opportunities for artists to live and work. We are proud to be a part of this expanding artists’ community, and join Dr. Miller in thanking Liz Nicklus of Phantom Gallery and the Board of the RRCA for this invitation.
